Convivium is open living space, a kitchen as an organised area, where solutions are the outcome of their location. Adjacent yet separate, the Closet: a closed walk-in cabin that is made to fit and helps to organise not only activity in the house, but also its architectonic layout. The island, freed from its service functions, becomes a true point of interaction between the cook and the diners. Socialising opens up to include cooking and vice versa, in a continual interlacing of relationships.
The island for everyday routine with its 20 cm thick stainless steel worktop flows into the slatted wood table. The diagram shows the concept of Convivium: the closed area of the made-to-measure Closet and the island, an open area for preparation, cooking and eating food.
